These Boots Are Made For Walking

Picture the scene... Christmas Day night. Everyone else asleep. After stuffing myself silly with every Yorkshire pudding, roast potato and mini sausage roll in sight, I climbed into bed a good 3 stone heavier. I fancied a browse. Just a quick one to see what shops, if any, had cracked on with the sales. Office definitely had!
I certainly am not short on the shoe front, so there wasn't any pair I needed. There wasn't any that particularly caught my eye, the only exception being Jeffrey Campbells which were still too pricey *weeps*
Then I saw these babies, so I thought I'd take pictures as I unboxed them, as you do obviously...

After a huge mess-up with my order confirmation and then delivery (I'll let them off because it was during the sales) these babies arrived. They are soo comfy because of the HUGE platform and they are super easy to walk in!
I paid the grand total of ... are you ready
£10. Yep. Ten English pounds. Just ten!
Reduced from £70 to £10 with free postage and packaging, I couldn't grumble
I will get round to an OOTD styling these, but for now I just wear them round the house.. in my pyjamas.. because I'm super glamorous. Right?

Mrs Incredible Inspired Makeup

(image from google)

I was inspired by this picture of 'Mrs Incredible' from the movie The Incredibles and this is just my interpretation of this look.. I'm no professional but it was fun to create!

 Base

I started off with a cleansed face following my routine here and then moisturised using the Nivea Daily Essentials Rich Moisturising Day Cream which gives the perfect base for makeup.
I then mixed Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation in 51 with Revlon Photoready Foundation in 002 Vanilla on the back of my hand. I applied this to my face and neck using my Real Techniques Stippling Brush to create a flawless base.
I dabbed on a little of my Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer in shade 2 Light on my redness and blemishes.
I then used my Real Techniques Powder Brush to dust a bit of my Rimmel Clear Complexion Clarifying Powder in 021 Transparent to set my base.
Finally to contour, I used an angled foundation brush to create a shadow under my cheekbones with Natural Collection Peach Melba blush. (Use a light hand)

Eyes

Using Rimmel Colour Rush Eyeshadow in 214 Jet Black and a synthetic eye shader brush, I extended my lower lash line up toward the end of my eyebrow, stopping when I reached my crease. Then I dragged the line inwards along the crease of my eyelid, right into the inner corner as if I was tracing out my lid. Then I went back to my lower lash line, drawing the shadow along there until I reached my inner eye again.

I then brought the line on my crease down a bit, shading as I went.

Next, using my Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Liner in 01 Black and a synthetic liner brush, I drew over the line on my crease and shaded in my entire lid.

(It doesn't have to be neat at this point)
I then used the gel liner to go over the line I'd created on my lower lash line.

I then used a Rimmel Soft Kohl Eyeliner in Jet Black to line my tightline and waterline. (I then decided this wasn't intense enough and went over it with my gel liner. This also got rid of the white gaps in my liner)
I wanted my brows to be defined but natural for this look, so I ran a bit of MAC Cork eyeshadow through them with an angled brush to just square them off a bit.
Using a cotton bud dipped in a little bit of MAC Mineralize Concealer in NW15, I cleaned up the edges around the eyeliner to make it look more precise. I then layered on L'Oreal False Lash Telescopic mascara (falsies are optional).
I went back over the edges with my black eyeshadow to just soften the lines and make the look a bit more wearable.

This is the finished eye.

The Lips
The black eyes are to symbolise the mask that the incredibles wear, so I thought a bold red lip would contrast nicely as it is the costume colour.
I used the new formula Kate Moss lipstick in 110.
I also dabbed a bit of this lippy onto the back of my hand, then using a duo fibre blush brush I put a little bit onto the apples of my cheeks!
The Finished Look

Apologies for the bad quality of pictures, I rely on my iPhone and it isn't the best!
Hope you enjoyed this look, as I said I'm not a professional!!

Review:LescottStewart

(image from Google)

A different kinda post today, nothing makeup or beauty related, but I felt I had to step up due to the lack of posts about LescottStewart on the world wide web!
LescottStewart, created by Aaron Lescott, Joleon Lescott and Jordan Stewart, had the potential to become a high-end fashion label in the mainstream market. Apparently. So I just had to see if I agreed..
The idea behind the brand LescottStewart reeled me in. The fancy words, all the promises of a major brand. I had to try it out didn't I?
Off I went onto the website, which for gormless people like myself, is actually surprisingly easy to navigate yourself around. Bonus!
As an unemployed student fishing out coppers from down the settee, I begrudged splashing out THAT much money on some T-shirts from a company I knew little about. I'd only heard of the brand through the Twitter account, which is disappointing to me- I want to hear more people talk about this brand! But I took the plunge. *weeps at bank statement* Whoops. I ordered on the Monday and by the Thursday it was with me. Impressed to say the least considering the delivery was quite cheap!
Now I know it's a men's brand, but I couldn't resist, heavily influenced by the fact Joleon Lescott is just my all time favourite.
On to the t-shirts themselves..
Very soft, which is always a plus. No-one wants an itchy top do they?! The quality is pretty decent as well, quite thick as far as t-shirts go. Being a domestic goddess lazy cow, my mum does all my washing, and she gives them the thumbs up too. Apparently they're nice to iron as well, which if it stops my mum nagging about creases I'm already in 100%! I got a size Large, I love a good baggy t-shirt, and the sizes are pretty generous, a plus for all the beer-loving pie-eating men out there that still go on the pull even with a beer belly.

All in all I'm completely sold to this brand. The people behind it, the ethos, and the quality. I think it's fair to say my cheapskate days are a thing of the past- I've got my eye on what I want next! Naughty.
I have high hopes for LescottStewart and I'm eagerly waiting for the line to expand. I'd love to see a few jumpers, socks and maybe even some bob hats!
There's a sale on at the minute here, so if you have a spare few quid I seriously recommend you spend it there! Treat yourself, your man, your dad, granddad? Just do it!

My Piercings

I wouldn't say I have a lot of piercings, but I have a few I guess, and people are forever asking me if they hurt blah blah blah. I've uploaded photos for a couple of them, and pain ratings for all you wimps out there! Enjoy
Katie xo
(Image off Google)
Ear Lobes
These were my first piercings, at the grand old age of 5, and I'm sure everyone and their dog has them pierced, so they can't be that bad ey? They were pierced with a gun and did not hurt AT ALL.
Belly Button
Next was my belly button when I was 13 and following the crowd. *cringes* It didn't hurt one bit, because it was numbed and clamped, probably a 1 out of 5 for pain rating. But the place I got it done was mingin and after 3 months my body rejected it and I was left with an ugly scar :-(
(After that bad experience I now go to the same place for all my piercings and it is SO good. They only use titanium jewellery, as most people are allergic to surgical steel, and that's what causes a piercing to get infected/rejected.)
Eyebrow
My eyebrow piercing bled like a bitch! Because the skin around your eye is extra thin and sensitive, and there are a lot of blood vessels around there, it's a place that bleeds/bruises easily (Think of boxers when they get hit in the eye). Again, it was numbed so it didn't hurt, probably a 2 out of 5 with the most uncomfortable part being the clamp.

Lip
The myth is, the thicker your lips are the more this piercing hurts. My lips are FAT and I didn't feel a thing when I had my lip pierced. It was sprayed with numbing spray on the outside, and I had a numbing mouthwash to numb the inside. I can't even give this a pain rating because I didn't feel a bloody thing. I dribbled a bit afterwards when I talked/ate, and I had a swollen lip for a while, but after some Ibuprofen it was fine.

Microdermal/Skindiver
I then got a Microdermal piercing, which if you don't know what one is click here. I loved this piercing so much because I didn't, personally, know anyone with this piercing where I had it. It lasted around 5 months before I caught it in my sleep and had to have it removed. The pain is around a 3 out of 5 because it's done completely different to 'traditional' piercings.
Rook
Oh. My. God. Ok this piercing hurt. Like killed. Beyond belief. It goes through the cartilage in your upper ear, not once, but twice. It was like a 4/5 out of 5. It hurt afterwards. It hurt to sleep on. It hurt. It was pierced with a banana bar, and in the first couple of months it rubbed in my sleep, and I got a few small keloids on and off. It's all good now though and I love it.
Nipple
My most recent piercing is my nipple piercing, done with a bar. For obvious reasons I ain't about to post a picture of my nipple on here, but believe me when I say it looks super pretty! This piercing bled a fair bit, and until it settled down I was left with a very erect nipple for a while. lol. And I now have a sensitive nipple, but ya know ;-) This hurt like a 3/5.
Tips
♥ Being nervous before your piercing is good. It produces endorphins which are thought to fight off pain.
Do not Google how the piercing is done or how much it hurts before hand! People exaggerate
Do eat something sugary beforehand if you're worried you might faint or get woozy. A Marsbar is good.
Do not get a piercing done on an empty stomach, or if you've been drinking the night before- it thins your blood so you'll bleed a lot more
Do not just go to a piercing place because it's cheap. Chances are they'll use surgical steel. Pay a little extra and ask if it's titanium jewellery.
Do take some paracetamol around an hour before your piercing, that way it'll hurt less afterwards as they'll have had chance to kick in. Ibuprofen are good to have as they reduce swelling.
Do not just get a piercing your mates have got, don't be a copy. Get something different.
BE different.

My Everyday Skincare Routine

MORNING
After dragging myself out of bed at the ridiculous hour of 6am, I seriously have to wake myself up in the mornings! After washing my face with warm water, I use the Gentle Cleansing Cream Wash from the Nivea Daily Essentials range. Formulated for dry skin, this wash is amazing for me because it doesn't foam up, meaning it doesn't leave my face feeling dry and tight. I hate that!

Then I splash my face with very cold water, which doesn't only wake me up, but it tightens my pores at the same time. Two birds one stone eh.
Then I slap on a bit of the Rich Moisturising Day Cream, from the same range, which also doubles up as a base for my makeup. That's me done.

EVENING
As soon as I get home from college or wherever I've been that day, I just use any old face wipes to scrub off as much makeup as I can, before I use the Nivea Daily Essentials 'Double Effect Eye Make-up Remover'. I squirt a little bit onto some cotton pads and let it soak into my eye makeup for a bit, then I just swipe it all off. This stuff can take off any eye makeup - praise the lord!

Then with some fresh cotton pads, I use the Daily Essentials 'Refreshing Cleansing Lotion' all over my face to just get rid of any more crap lurking around the place, before I rinse my face with warm water.

If I've got a pesky spot or two.. or three.. planting itself on my face, I dab a little blob of the Origins Super Spot Remover Gel on it, and by morning it is massively reduced in colour and size! This stuff is good.

Slather on a load of Nivea Regenerating Night Cream and brush my teeth and that's me done, ready to hit the hay!

I know all of these products are Nivea, but it's because it's so damn cheap! It's also really good for sensitive skin too. Bonus.

NOTD: Party Peach

Just a quick post before bed guys!
My package arrived from ELF today (I splurged in the sale. Naughty!) And I was dying to try these this nail polishes!
Both were £1.00 in the sale *happy dance*

I'm wearing Party Peach, which is quite sheer and definitely more of a peach with just one coat, but after two its more of a vibrant orange which i lurrrve! It's making me excited for summer!

Then on top I have the Matte Finisher, and I am impressed! For £1 it does exactly that-makes your nails matte! I'd say matte nails are quite a marmite product but I definitely love it.

Let me know what you think. Is there any ELF nail polish you're loving?!

Sorry for the bad quality picture!

Best And Worst of 2012 Tag

Throughout 2012, I tried and tested a fair few beauty products. Make-up, Nails, Hair and Skincare.. the whole hog! A handful were absolutely amazing, hence why they've made it into the 'best' category, and a few were a complete and utter waste of money. So I decided to share my picks with you.. Enjoy. Let me know what you think of these products if you've tried them. What were your best and worst of 2012?
Katie xo

The Super-Duper Category

Elf Powder Brush
This brush makes it super quick to apply foundation! The brush head is relatively big, and the bristles are quite dense. At £3.75 this is a cheap, cheerful bargain and can be found here.
Sleek Face Contour Kit
As you can see I've hit pan, but I'm in shade Medium and find this contour/highlight duo to work well with my skin tone. It doesn't come out too heavy, and the packaging is sleek (see what I did there) however, mine did break in my bag..
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer
The writing rubs off super easy, I'm in shade 2 if you're wondering. I find this works well to cover any blemishes/redness and also works well under my eyes if I blend it with my fingers to warm up the product.
MAC Cork Eye Shadow
I use this eye shadow everyday to fill in my eyebrows as it matches well with my hair colour.
Rimmel Extra WOW Lash Mascara
Gives me full, big eyelashes without looking clumpy.

Neutrogena Visibly Clear 2-in-1 Wash and Mask
Handy face wash- it can be used as a facemask if you leave it on a bit longer. I use it as a mask in my Sunday routine (Post coming later)
Soap and Glory:The Scrub Of Your Life
I use this a couple of days before I faketan and it does exactly what it says on the tin. Or tub rather..

Vo5 Miracle Concentrate
This has improved the condition of my hair so much! Split ends be gone (for a while at least). A little goes a long way
Superdrug Dry Shampoo:Head In The Clouds
Such a handy thing to have for lazy mingin' days!
Rescue Oil
A cheaper alternative to Bio Oil, with the same results. Fab.

Give-Me-My-Money-Back Category

Rimmel Recover Foundation
Absolutely bobbins'. I have the lightest shade, and it is far too dark. It's thick, cakey, streaky and feels like stage makeup. Far too heavy!
Collection 2000 Cover-up Stick
Too dark. Too yellow-toned. Impossible to blend.
MUA Extreme Curl Mascara
The curled wand is nice, but the product is too wet. Comes out thick and it so clumpy.
Tesco All About Face Nail Polish - Coconut
Needs at least 3 coats before the colour even shows up, and because it's a thick
polish, it becomes gloopy and horrible on the nails.

The Girl: Get To Know Me Tag

(image from google)
As this is my first attempt at blogging, I thought it only right to start off with a 'Get To Know Me' kinda post.

1. Are you named after anyone?
I'm pretty sure Katie is a common name, so no, I don't think I was named after anyone in particular, I guess my parents just liked the name Katie...

2. When was the last time you cried?
We've recently celebrated New Year, and that was the last time I cried. I spent the night with family and when I got home and tucked up cosy in bed, I had a little cry (sad I know) at the fact 2012 was finally over and the New Year could begin.

3. Do you have kids?
No

4. If you were another person, would you be a friend of yourself?
Probably not. (That makes me sound shit) but I couldn't put up with me. I'm far too loud and moody and stubborn! I'd want to hit myself if I was friends with myself. whaaaat...

5. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
Always. I consider myself to have quite a dry, sarcastic sense of humour. And I'm quite witty, if I do say so myself!

6. Will you ever Bungee Jump?
Without offending people that have done a Bungee Jump, I honestly don't know why I'd ever ever want to do one. It's just not something I could see myself doing...

7. What's your favourite cereal?
Anything sugary. Really sugary! Frosties, Cheerios with tons of sugar on top, or Cornflakes with sugar on. Anything with sugar on really.. And Aldi make 'Choco Pillows' and they are THE nicest cereal to ever exist. *Praises the Lord*

8. What's the first thing you notice about people?
Their shoes. Or if they are talking, the way they speak.

9. What is your eye colour?
I have blue eyes. Not a bright blue. Not a nice blue. A dirty blue that isn't particularly striking.. More like the colour of Blackpool sea in all honesty.

10. Scary movie or happy endings?
Happy endings! But not over-the-top romantically happy endings.. Nothing extremely corny. I hate scary movies because I'm terrified of the dark. Wuss

11. Favourite smells?
Perfumes aside, I love the smell of cinnamon and gingerbread. Winter is my favourite time of year just for the smells. Oh, and the smell of a Sunday Roast makes me drool.

12. Summer or winter?
Winter all the way. Being all cosy and wrapped up is so cute! And i LOVE Christmas

13. Computer or television?
Television. I prefer being on the internet on my phone than my computer..

14.What's the furthest you've ever been from home?
Lanzarote, which isn't that far considering how big the world is..

15. Do you have any special talents?
Other than being able to fit 4 custard creams in my mouth at once, I'm severely lacking on the talent front guys.

16.Where were you born?
Manchester, England. I haven't ever moved out of Manchester.

17. What are your hobbies?
Is it really sad that I consider Twitter a hobby? That's my number one hobby. Get a life Katie. I watch a lot of football so I guess that's a hobby. And online window shopping..

18. Do you have any pets?
Nope. I've had a rabbit and a goldfish when I was little. Exciting huh

19. Favourite movie?
I have 3. Matilda is an absolute classic. I love Stepbrothers and Bridesmaids is just my ultimate feel-good film!

20. Do you have any siblings?
I do. I have 2 younger brothers, one at 9 and one at 7.

I hope people actually read this post, otherwise it's a bit of a waste of time.. lol.
Leave your link if you've done this tag!
